April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player in the US is part of a select set of females who've had medals won in more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and will join the team in Tokyo. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. It could be the last time she has the chance as she is 39 years old. But she's confident top awards can be achieved. If we do our top or do well, I believe we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa along with her parents and sibling. While at Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. When she was a student in the prep school, she competed in indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running track. In her final game, she clearly stood out. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside hitter on the volleyball court throughout her time in high school. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player 1999. In 2000, she was named Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play since 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role in the world of beach volleyball before joining the duo. In reality, she was a winner of multiple major tournaments in the past with two different partners. one of which is an icon of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Kessy's teammate Ross, who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on world stage. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded the gold medal. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). It was fate that had them. Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. In 2016, the pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. In high school and the many years before hitting the beach as a professional Ross balled out to the Trojans at USC while an NCAA. Ross had an impressive run in the NCAA tournament. As a freshmen in 2000 the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans could also make it to the Final Four with her help. She endured a great personal defeat in her sophomore year but was still able to achieve the All-American title. Over the course of the two years she played for the Trojans, she helped them win consecutive championships. For her part, she cemented her place as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the best female volleyball players at colleges across the nation. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001. Ross was in the midst of being a USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. Ross is still awed by her mother who died. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her both in and out of the water.
