Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born to a musical family on 9 August 1963. She was born in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. and cousin of singing star Dionne Warwick. As a child she performed in the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark. At the age of she reached the age of 15years old, Houston was singing professionally backing vocals with her mother on Chaka Khan's hit song in 1978 Im Every Woman. Jermaine, her mother and Lou Rawls were a few of the performers she performed with. She was also briefly a model for Seventeen magazine in the year 1981. Her first gig was as a lead vocalist for the New York-based New York Funk band Material. Her quality of vocal work attracted attention from the major label Arista which she joined in 1983. Whitney Houston, her debut album, released in 1985 was the top-selling album of an unproven singer. A number of hit singles, such as Saving All My Love For You How Do I know It's Good to Love You and The Most Beautiful Love of All were released on the album. They set the stage for her to beat the Beatles with seven consecutive US numbers one. The album's first US year of release, the album sold over 3 million units. After that, it was to be purchased by more than 25 million worldwide and earned her her first Grammy. Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchorwoman and reporter for the political section of CNN. The shows she hosts on weekends comprise Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics. Bash's awards and recognitions include inclusion in the Women in Washington Power List" by Elle magazine.
